Music and our Choir

The music at St Andrew's Parish Church is steeped in the Anglican tradition but also enjoys a regular injection of modern compositions from home and abroad.

The Parish mainly uses Hymns Ancient & Modern (new edition) for worship services. We are fortunate in our worship to have the leadership of our gifted and experienced musical director, organist and composer Stephen Lacey.

Each week, on Fridays from 7.30 to 9pm, Stephen rehearses our enthusiastic, talented choir which is the musical bedrock of our services. The choir also assembles normally at 9.15am for the regular 10am Sunday service for a short warm-up and rehearsal. We are encouraging anyone who has an interest of joining our church choir but is not able to commit to Friday rehearsals regularly, to come along on Sunday mornings at 9:15am and sing.

The choir consists of parishioners of all ages, and Stephen is particularly eager to boost  youth participation in the choir. This is an excellent opportunity for young people to benefit from a first-class musical and choral singing education and experience at no cost for some time and commitment.

A new initiative, the KOSTA Choir, has started recently to encourage our church families with young people to come and sing once a month on a Friday at 5:30pm. For more information please contact Hannah Lacey - Children's Co-ordinator.

The choir on occasion will also host a Choral Evensong at St Andrews, and sometimes are lucky enough to go to Winchester or Guildford Cathedral to take a weekday Evensong.

Please come and support us, we would love to welcome you.
